Hawai`i Museums Association Annual Meeting is joining with
the Association for Living History, Farm & Agricultural Museums, Western Region

Conference Registration Fee and Details:

To receive a complete registration packet by mail, please click on "email hotline" and provide your name, phone and mailing address.

Conference Site and Accomodations:
KMC, a joint military services recreational center, is in a retreat-like setting in Volcano on the Big Island and is complete with bowling alley, snack bar, weight room, cafeteria, general store, and lovely grounds. The nearest restaurants, hotel, and bed & breakfasts are about a mile or two away, but since most HMA/ALHFAM conference events will take place at KMC, you’ll want to lodge there; besides, our state bird, the Nene often rests there!

Reservations:
We have arranged for a block of various accommodations for April 28 – May 2, 2004 so that you can stay for pre and post-conference activities. If you are in the military, are a veteran or are related to one of those, you can make your reservations outside the conference block, as you will have a larger selection and possibly less expensive lodgings available to you. If you are not in those categories, you will need to make your own reservations for the following housing options that are being held temporarily for HMA/ALHFAM:

1) 1 bedroom cottages w/queen bed & sofa bed @ $79 for 2 people + $13 for each additional person;
2) 3 bedroom cottages, sleep up to 8 people @ $23 per person;
3) 2 bedroom cottages, some w/full kitchens, sleep up to 4 people @ $29 - $33 per person;
4) Semi-private dorms w/6 beds per room @ $15 per person.

Some restrictions may apply and there may be a minimum number of people required – best to coordinate with others as roommates. Make your reservations with Denise Miller at phone: (808) 967-8333 or email to groups@KMC-volcano.com. If you reserve under the conference block, let her know that you are with HMA/ALHFAM. You will have to make a deposit to hold your reservation. Space will be on a first-come, first-reserved basis. You can visit the KMC website at www.KMC-volcano.com for more information.

Transportation Information:
KMC offers shuttle buses to and from Hilo Airport that you must arrange when you make your housing reservations. Car rentals often sell out on weekends and air service to Hilo is limited so we highly recommend you make those reservations now as well. Car pooling and using the shuttle are encouraged since most activities are at KMC and transportation to conference special events and field trips will be included in registration fees.
