Primarily a research facility, Kaua‘i Historical Society maintains the only general historical archive for Kaua‘i. KHS resides in the Kauai County Building—the oldest operating government facility in the State. Built in 1913, the three room office, library, and archive displays some period furniture pieces and art.


 
  Collections: archives of Kaua‘i and Hawai’i, including manuscripts, maps, photographs, audiovisual materials, books, periodicals and subject files; Hawaiian books and artifacts, and material relating to the tourist industry; KHS also maintains the Grace Guslander Museum collection

Programs and tours: guided and school tours; permanent exhibits; archives, open to the public; historical programs and publications; classes and workshops, school and teacher programs, live performances; Kapa‘a Town Historical Walking Tour by reservation

Special events: The Royal Pa‘ina, April; monthly historical lecture program
