Located on the south shore of Kaua‘i, The National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG) administers over 200 acres of extraordinary beauty with historical significance. Tours of the historical Allerton Garden include views of its exotic landscaping, outdoor sculptures, fountains and water features.


 
  Collections: Lawa‘i Garden, 189 acres, includes rare and endangered Hawaiian species and plants, collected from the wild in tropical regions of the world; a herbarium with 35,000 species of tropical plants; and a research library with 8,000 volumes, 2,500 botanical prints and 10,000 photographic slides. Allerton Gardens, 80 acres, includes Queen Emma’s summer cottage (1870), sculpture and landscaped gardens. NTBG also administers Limahuli Garden at Ha‘ena and Kahanu Garden in Hana, Maui which includes the massive Pi‘ilanihale Heiau (place of worship).
