| At Hawaii's premier fine arts museum, visitors can walk through 4,000 years of art, going from Ancient Egypt to 20th-century Europe. The historic 1927 building, organized around tranquil courtyards, is home to one of the country's finest collections of Asian art; works by van Gogh, Gauguin, and Monet; and a comprehensive modern collection of works by such artists as Francis Bacon, Lee Bontecou, and Robert Rauschenberg. Have a Mediterranean-accented lunch at the open-air Pavilion Cafe, browse The Academy Shop, or visit the Doris Duke Theatre for innovative programming of film, music and performance. With education as its core mission, the museum hosts 25,000 children a year for tours and arts education programs. The Academy Art Center at Linekona is the state's largest private art school |
