‘Ae Kai: A Culture Lab on Convergence

The Smithsonian’s Asian Pacific American Center is in town. It is featuring a special exhibition for 3 days:
‘Ae Kai: A Culture Lab on Convergence, July 7 – 9, 2017, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Venue: former Foodland space in Ala Moana Shopping Center
Free and open to the public.
There are 50 artists, writers, poets, and scholars participating together and by themselves. Many of the artists are from Hawai‘i, while others are from the Pacific region and continental U.S. It opens on Friday, July 7th, at 11 a.m. and runs until Sunday, July 9th, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. (They may close earlier on Sunday.) If you enjoyed the Honolulu Biennial, you may find this exhibition exciting too, although in different ways. The artists/writers/scholars are on hand to talk to visitors ad there are performances and demonstrations happening continually.
