SUN YAT-SEN FESTIVAL IN LAHAINA

Lahaina honors the life and achievements of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, known as The Father of Modern China, during its annual festival at Wo Hing Museum & Cookhouse on Front Street in Lahaina from 4 to 9:30 pm. This year, the 150th Anniversary of his birth will be celebrated with a new exhibit, film tributes and displays depicting the life of Sun Yat-sen from Maui to China, which are open to the public at 10 am.
Try Chinese martial arts on the museum lawn, or cultural activities like calligraphy and knot tying. Enjoy a presentation in the old Cookhouse on the significance of Dr. Sun’s work and his connection to Maui. Listen to Chinese traditional music on the flute, erhu and gu zheng string instruments. In the evening, sample Cantonese foods and Chinese teas in the garden. Admission is FREE.
