The Collections Manager/Archivist will be responsible for setting up an inventory system for the museum collection, completing an inventory, and establishing a protocol for continued use. Part of the inventory will include evaluating each item and recommending preservation procedures. Funding is available for 50 hours a month for 6 months. Scheduling is flexible. Another Maui non-profit is also interested in hiring such an individual, so full-time employment is possible.
The individual we are seeking would having a good working knowledge of conservation methods and procedures and be proficient in collections management software. Ideally he/she would have a degree in art, history, or other field of the humanities, or museum studies, library/information studies. A knowledge of Hawaiian history, particularly Maui history, is desirable.
